10/7/03 - We are very pleased to announce that TSR legend Erol Otus has agreed to help us with the Dungeon Crawl Classics series. His all-new cover art graces the next two releases in the series, The Mysterious Tower (#3, December) and Bloody Jack's Gold (#4, February).

8/26/03 - Morningstar is coming! Semi-finalist in the WotC Setting Search, Morningstar is a fantastic golden age world threatened by a dark Prophecy. It is a glorious Age of Empires that many believe will never end, but the inscrutable Canticle of the Morning Star speaks boldly of an insidious threat. Game play in Morningstar includes a new system for spectrum magic, a new level-based approach to the elder races (complete with 3 supernatural subraces of dwarf and 5 types of fey elf), two new core classes, and much, much more. Click here for a 22-page preview. (1.4 MB PDF)

In other news, the Complete Guide to Beholders received a 5-star review from EN World! Read the review here.

8/19/03 - Bring on the beholders! The Complete Guide to Beholders should be in your local game store this week. To help get things rolling, send your players to meet The Cultist-Monks of the Abbey Inn (250K, PDF). 8/13/03 - The eagerly awaited Complete Guide to Beholders is now shipping to distributors. For those of you who just can't wait any longer, we've posted a PDF preview of some new character options for beholder cultists and eyekin (aberrant cultists corrupted from long contact with beholders). Click here for the preview. (PDF, 500K) And check back next week for a free beholders scenario to use with the book!

8/5/03 - THANKS! Gen Con and GameFest Milwaukee were both a blast. It was great talking to everyone who came by our booth. Now, at long last, here's a proper update to the web site.

First, Beyond Monks has shipped to distributors. It should be in stores next week. This is an awesome martial arts sourcebook with huge potential for any monk or martial artist player, as well as GMs crafting martial arts campaigns.

Second, the Complete Guide to Beholders is shipping to distributors and should be in stores in two weeks. This book unfortunately missed Gen Con, but we did have it at GameFest. It is packed to the gills with startling revelations on everyone's favorite monster.

Finally, an update on other projects. Morningstar is at the printer; Monsters of the Boundless Blue is in final edit. And Blackmoor... what of Blackmoor? It's in its final stages, and we'll post more information soon...

7/29/03 - Gen Con was a blast! Thanks to everyone who came by our booth. We had a lot of fun at the show. This coming week we'll be at GameFest Milwaukee -- if you missed us in Indy, say hi in Milwaukee!

7/18/03 - Gen Con Events: We have two biggies for Gen Con. First, Dave Arneson has penned a special Dungeon Crawl Classics. Number 3.5 in the series (get it?), the Haunted Lighthouse will only be available at Gen Con. Come by our booth early since we'll probably sell out -- and, second, come by at the right time to get it autographed! Here's our signing schedule:

  • Dave Arneson: Friday 12:30-1:30 and 3:30-4:00; Saturday 3:00-3:30; Sunday 12:00-1:00 (co-creator of D&D; creator of Blackmoor)
  • Keith Baker: Sunday 1:30-2:30 (winner of the Setting Search; author of Complete Guides to Doppelgangers, Wererats, and Beholders)

  • Andy Hopp: Friday 2:00-3:00 (monster artist and designer behind Monsters of the Endless Dark; illustrator of Complete Guide to Doppelgangers)
  • Mike Mearls: Saturday 1:30-2:30 (prolific d20 writer; author of Aerial Adventure Guide and Dungeon Crawl Classics #2: Lost Vault of Tsathzar Rho)
Come by, get an autograph, and say hi!

7/14/03 - In the Amusing Conversations Department, Joseph Goodman of (you guessed it) Goodman Games was interviewed by Mortality Radio this past weekend. Listen to it here (scroll to the July 11th show).

In the Dang, We're Behind Schedule Department, Morningstar is in its final edit. We've moved its release date to September. Believe me, it's worth the wait. The book is beautiful, and it's a fascinating setting. This world has Secrets -- with a capital S -- that even the author won't reveal; only upon reading the book a second time do they even start to become clear. To make the wait a little easier, we've posted a few new sample images...

7/8/03 - Want to see why Monsters of the Endless Dark got 2 ENnie nominations? Check out the free web expansion Races of the Endless Dark, which presents guidelines for playing characters from three of the book's most popular races.

7/1/03 - Hoody hoo! Goodman Games has been nominated for two ENnie awards, plus an honorable mention. If you liked these books, please remember us when voting opens:

6/30/03 - Just got back from Origins. What a great show! A gaming group called Red Shirt Games produced a scale dealer's room for miniatures battles, which included a miniature Goodman Games booth. Check out the pictures...

6/23/03 - We just sent the Complete Guide to Beholders off to the printer. It's a great book -- the longest sourcebook yet in the Complete Guide series. Here is a preview of the table of contents and interior art...

6/16/03 - We'll be hitting quite a few cons this year, so come by and visit! Here is our schedule for the next few months:
