Krex and Cutter will remain outside the room in the hallway on one side of the door.
Dibbon and Will will also remain outside the room on the other side of the door.

In the event that there is violence, all four will rush in with weapons drawn.

Kurr and Bjorn step through and back Tarr, awaiting his signal to attack

As Bjorn steps into the room, the orb hesitates momentarily, and then heads slowly in her direction.

It stops in front of her, and shines her up and down with a blue light.

Then, rotating slightly, it aims a very thin spline is right at her... as if it intends to stick it into her flesh...

[and do we need those initiative thingies?]

Voorak tries to impale the sphere with his spear. Atk = 6 *wah-wah horns*

[On the previously rolled initiative of 21, presumably]

Spooked by the demon's "blue light spell", Bjorn and Kurr strike!

Init(+1)=12 Bjorn: att(+1)=9, dmg(1d4+1)=4 Kurr: att=10, dmg(1d8)=3

OOC: Sorry for the delay, all!

The attacks clang off of the hard exterior of the floating orb, which ignores the clumsy attempts and jabs its needle-like appendage into Bjorn and starts injecting her with some kind of liquid.

Bjorn can try a REF save to try to avoid the injection.

She tries to jerk away from the floating demonic orb, but is off balance from her failed stab at the thing...
Bjorn: REF =9

My apologies on the long pause. A rough few weeks at work, followed last week by a long overdue week's vacation.

I'll get back to business (and by that I mean fun) starting tomorrow...!

Bjorn manages to jerk backward from the needle before the liquid is injected, and it squirts on to the floor.

The orb whirs and turns, looking like it is preparing to try again.

Bjorn and Kurr try again to lay low the demon-orb...
still on Init(+1)=12, Bjorn: att(+1)=18!, dmg(1d4+1)=4 Kurr: att=18! , dmg(1d8)=8!
...this time with more resolve, apparently!

(If needed) Voorak will strike with a thrust of his trusty spear, as well:

Atk = 9

Well, that's better than last time...

Oh, and welcome back!

I'm assuming that they've all now rushed in... Do they do anything?

Hearing the obvious sounds of a struggle from inside the room, all four (Krex, Cutter, Will, and Dibbon) will charge in.

Bitterbrew will attampt to subdue the orb by grabbing at the protruding appendage and (hopefully) immobilizing the needle.'
d20 roll = 14 (-1 for Str mod) = 13 total

Dibbon runs to the back and up onto the platform to grab any free curtains or blankets - next round, he'll attempt to throw them over the top of the orb.

Krex and Willoughby attempt to drive the orb backward with their spears

Krex; d20 roll: 17 (no mod), d8 damage roll: 7 (no mod)
Willoughby; d20 roll: 1 (fug) d20 fumble roll: 4, "Your weapon is damaged: a bowstring breaks, a sword hilt falls off, or a crossbow ring mechanism jams. The weapon can be repaired with 10 minutes of work but is useless for now."

Please tell me what weapon Bjorn and Kurr are using to hit the sphere...

As Dibbon runs up the few steps onto the platform and is able to see the bed more closely, what he sees gives him a start!

On the bed is the mummified remains of a 7" tall humanoid, withered by age and disease; his face locked in a painful rictus of death. In its dessicated hand, there is another palm-disc-thing.

Dibbon could yank the shiny sheets off of this body if he still chooses to do so.

Bjorn has a knife and Kurr wields a spear

Dibbon, upon seeing the corpse bearing the disc thing, wonders if it might be used to control the orb? Moving quickly, he begins to wrest the disc from the corpse's hand with the intention, hoping that being the new disc-bearer, he will be able to command the orb.

Bitterbrew misses in his attempt to grab the needle-thing, but Bjorn, Kurr and Krex's weapons make contact and dent the outer skin of the odd creature.

Dibbon snatches up the disc-thing from the dessicated hand of its former owner, and it grips itself to his palm and begins glowing gold...

The orb now zips at Bjorn again, with a 13 that I assume hits with the needle. Again, DC 5 REF save to try to avoid the injection.

Bjorn: Ref=8
Any damage from the needle itself?

Once again, Bjorn twists away in time to avoid the injection with only a pinprick (no damage).

Tarr enters the room, unfurling his pelt. He attempts to throw it over the thing, trying to wrap it up and keep it bound...

Attack roll: 11

Should he miss Voorak again tries to impale the thing: Attack roll: 7

rolling an 11 Int check, if this makes sense, then:
Bjorn reasons that if the sting was meant to hurt, it would have. She resolve to trust the Great Bear and receive the demon's sting

Unless this Int check feels insufficient to make such a conclusion. When in doubt of mingling player/character knowledge, I roll Int!

Has the steam gone out of the glacier, so to speak...?

It's been good, but if we've moved on, well, it happens. No harm, no foul.

Just wondering if I should hang onto the character info for this nor not...

We have lost some momentum, sorry. But we can get it back. :-)

Was it Dr. Meat's turn to post? Apart from the glow gold from the palm-disc, Dibbon senses no special ability to control the orb...

Bjorn stands ready to receive the demon-sting...
Bjorn: "The Great Bear will protect me as she does from the hive-let the demon ro me!"
