Re: Appendix N type movies.
Ladyhawke! Dug this up from 2013 upthread, 8 years ago, almost to the day. I'm not sure how nobody's mentioned Ladyhawke . I recall really liking that movie, mostly because of Rutger and Michelle. I still have the VHS. Well, if we're reviving the thread... Excalibur (classic) Krull (early Liam Neeso...

Re: Finding DCC Players
Welcome! That's a problem with almost anything that's not 5e. The majority of people are exposed to D&D as it has the biggest share of both sales and media, so that's what they think they want to play. So often if you mention RPGs to someone new their first response is "you mean like D&...

Re: Xcrawl Classics Beta Rules Discussion
Ran my DCC regulars through Louisiana Rising. Had to cut stuff to run it in 4 hours and didn't quite finish but they really enjoyed Battle of the Bands. Did it online but old-school, over video with everyone rolling real dice. It was a blast, but as I'm running this at Bride of Cyclops Con, I'm with...

DCC Lankhmar uses "Servant" for someone who's bonded through Patron Bond, and "Agent" for someone who has a less-binding arrangement with a Patron.

Re: Running a campaign
Must've missed this thread. Yep, it's pretty quiet here but steady (not to detract from the forum, but there's also the GG Discord server). I started running Lankhmar back in Jan with Masks, then No Small Crimes followed by The Fence's Fortuitous Folly. We just wrapped up Fence's and I'm starting in...

You could take the PDF version of the book and get an editor/viewer that either allows you to toggle images off or delete images from the document. Won't be hardcopy but it'll quickly give you the rules without any art.

Terry, thanks for the great session reports! It was good to read especially coming from the author of the module. This one's on the list for my Lankhmar group for sure, though I have a few other modules to run them through first.

Yep, GenCon is online; I wouldn't have had the chance to go to GenCon in person, either. Badges (available now) are free. Event schedule to be posted July 6, game registration to open July 13. https://www.gencon.com/online Which we can't open again now that we have drawn a line in the sand about eli...

[ooc]Yep, doing fine here too. Probably spending too much time gaming given the wealth of online games now available, but make hay while the sun shines, eh? Anyone planning on doing GenCon online?[/ooc]
Re: PDFs
Newer modules have codes in them for DriveThruRPG. Otherwise, see this post for how to request PDFs, though it's not clear if they're available for new purchases of old material that don't have a code:

@serendipitous, that's pretty hardcore of you to be playing something you find offensive! Well done in separating the system from the material. I'm not refuting anything that you've pointed out: as a white cis male these are things I would've glossed over myself, except for a fantastic person I had ...

Re: Running DCC with One player and One GM
Welcome to DCC! Yes, it is definitely possible, and enjoyable! Though I haven't run DCC with only one, I have run MCC with one player and it ran quite well. I did Museum Out of Time as a zero-level funnel and gave her 4 PCs to start with. Whenever one died, I had her roll up another so she always ha...

Re: keeping character generation session fun on Zoom
If you follow the rules as written there's no opportunity to number crunch: roll 3d6, in order, no substitutions, you get what you get. Realize that doing that is absolutely no different than using an online random generator. The tradeoff is fun in rolling dice and looking up the result in charts ve...

Re: keeping character generation session fun on Zoom
Personally I don't get much satisfaction out of a session zero. I'd rather spend my game time gaming, especially if the group can't get together very often. Also, I think in DCC session zero is the funnel. DCC is about developing your character by doing, not by dreaming up and writing in-depth backs...

Re: The Least You Need to Know? or: quick-start for judges
Hey, welcome to the forum. And to DCC. I've only been judging for about a year and I still feel very new to it. But, it's a blast. 1. Is there one thing you wish you'd known, or wish you'd done differently, when you were starting? Either judging for DCC or just DMing. That's a tough one. I wish I ha...

Re: The Portal Under The Stars - Need some advice
Hey, good job on signing up to run Portal for those cons! I've run it 3 times now. 1. Be prepared to give them clues and keep the time pressure on. I had people try to pry jewels off the door (I triggered the trap), I had one find the trap (high roll) but not know what triggered it, and In two games...
