Converting 3E/4E DCC Modules to DCC RPG Rules: Guidelines
I was wondering if we could start a thread here that compiles all the tips, guidelines, scales, etc. people have used to successfully convert from 3E and 4E to DCC RPG. My general conversion method is more to just totally strip out all stats and "stat from scratch" as it were, basing off o...

Zombie thread, but it's on sale for $3 right now at DTRPG, so I'm picking it up, plus modules for $1 each.

Re: Brave Halfling Publishing...what gives? Never buy again.
For what it's worth, I've been playing one of the Appendix N Adventures Add-ons, "The Treacherous Cobtraps," and it's fun. I've also read through "The Green Orb," and I am planning to use it on my PC's next overnight trek ("Oh look, there's a cave..."). I kind of think ...

Re: DCC and Aereth.
What I hate about FR is that there's sooo much history, that I'm scared to change/add or delete anything in case it interferes with a future adventure. The odd thing is, I also feel the need to always add the location of an adventure on the map. It's just common sense to know the location but it's ...

Republishing Older DCC Modules for DCC RPG?
Are there any plans to republish older DCC modules (0-6x) for DCC RPG rules? I know the aesthetic's somewhat different, but there's such a wealth of material there.

Re: Funnel
However when I started this last campaign the players sat down and the first thing they said was “who cares they’re all dead anyway”. Yes remembering the deaths can be good and make the living so much the better but for me a character with 1 or 2 hp has zero chance. You can make something amusing o...

Makes sense to me too.BanjoJohn wrote:I house rule it as, every point above 18 increases by +1. So:
19 +4
20 +5
21 +6
22 +7, etc.
This just keeps it simple, and I generally ignore the book if it contradicts this because I haven't seen any official stance on ability scores beyond 18.

Dungeon Lord Zine from Death Machine Press
Can anyone talk me into buying these? I've bought the vast majority of DCC zines and such, but they're $14 for 3 issues and some of the worst-reviewed DCC items on DTRPG. Not trying to slam, just reporting how others have reviewed them. Has anyone really liked them and want to sell me on them? https...

I was browsing DTRPG and saw that Mark has repackaged these adventures, plus another funnel, into a one-volume set: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/27 ... ong-Farmer

Re: Funnel
1d4 + STA as intended has worked well for us. Yes, there are tons of deaths, but that's the point. It makes survival for the others that much sweeter. That's also why many funnels are written with built-in "Here are some extra PCs" checkpoints built in -- for example, the Beastmen tower in...

On another note, although I feel like I already have enough blog-published classes to last a lifetime, do we know when that Class Alphabet book is coming out? It's been a while since the "Working Class Alphabet" teaser was released.

Re: DCC and Aereth.
I don't think there's any such reference, but the good news is: it's up to your imagination. What I've been doing is, roughly keeping track of any reference to how long a party has to travel in order to get from a town to a dungeon in the modules they've been working through and sketching out a map ...

Update: I had never read OD&D until recently and was not aware that "In the Beginning," there were only three classes: fighting-man, magic-user, and cleric. That part of it makes sense to me now.

Re: Swimming and Combat
In this case, they've been at sea before and have definitely swam as well. Basically, I'm willing to suspend some of the ways I would normally work so not immediately destroy them as this is the first encounter of a series of encounters in the final dungeon. Good point on the damage - all attacks a...

Character rolls skill untrained -> character notes that skill on their sheet -> character levels up and chooses one of those untrained skills to be designated as trained going forward Right, but why? Why can that character just choose to suddenly be skilled in that, and why *only* that versus anyth...

Re: Let's Talk About Spellburn
And to that spellburn action table, that's one of the things I called out in my post as not really making sense using the in game time economy as written. There is no way that branding yourself with a hot iron, for example, happens in the same round in which one casts a spell, unless the character ...

Re: Adding Skills
Sounds a little complicated and arbitrary to me. In particular, I don't see what relationship rolling an untrained skill would necessarily have with later learning that skill? Also, people do lose skills that are unused or if they get dumber (it happens), so I would actually support a system where c...

Re: Swimming and Combat
Three thoughts: 1) If my players tried to tell me their characters can swim just because they're level 5, I'd say no way. Swimming really is a trained skill, and unless they had a water-oriented patron or something like that, I don't see a way around "swimming lessons" before they can do i...

Re: *SPOILERS* - How to Run DCC #80.5, Glipkerio's Gambit?
You're right about the chasm. I guess I got really absorbed in the text and, because it didn't mention anything about the rope down-modifying the risk, I didn't think of it. I'm still thinking the stair puzzle is too hard, but I'll report back after running it with details on how it went down.

*SPOILERS* - How to Run DCC #80.5, Glipkerio's Gambit?
*SPOILER ALERT - PLAYERS, STOP READING NOW!* I was looking into running Glipkerio's Gambit for a group of level 2 PCs, but I was put off from doing so by what seemed to be some rather daunting elements. Have others on here run this module as it is written, and how did it go if so, specifically in re...
