Re: The People of the Pit
So is this game open? I can't schedule a regular game online so PBP would actually be an ideal format for my hectic schedule right now... Sure. You could create 4 peasants from the Village of Arwich to accompany these PCs if you so desired...... Are those just normal level-0 characters using the ch...

Re: DCC at Quakecon, Dallas July 17th...
So I ran Sailors On the Starless Sea at 10pm last Thursday at Quakecon. I had 4 players, so I let them make 2 level 1 characters each. I had every one of them download and install the Crawler's Companion , and they found it very cool and useful, especially as none of them had dice. This is my third ...

Re: Weapons do D6/2D6
I'm thinking of changing weapon damage to a simple D6 for one handed weapons and a 2D6 for two handed weapons. I'm just kinda tired of EVERYONE running around with either a longsword or a Great Axe. The change really wouldn't change the damage a whole heck of a lot but it might free people up to ch...

I'm volunteering to run games on Thursday and, besides demos of Quarterback Blitz and For Glory! , I'll also be running DCC from 6 or 7pm to midnight. Not sure which module I'm running yet, probably Sailors on the Starless Sea or Frozen in Time or maybe even the Tower Out of Time , something short, ...

Re: VOID HUNTERS: Seventies Sci-Fi Gaming...
Yes, there is. As of yesterday, I've decided that I'm going to do Void Hunters independently rather than as a DCC supplement. There are a host of reasons for this, but the main ones are: 1. I've had problems selling supplements for full games in the past. Number one complaint: we want all the rules ...

Well, if it helps, Finarvyn, Moorcock is also on record as saying there is no set pronunciation, its down to how the reader feels it should be pronounced. I guess he's advocating reader agency, in that respect.

Re: What DCC Needs Is.....
I have all the monster manuals I need in my original D&D stuff and a lot of the offshoots. Conversions aren't that tricky and, in fact I converted a few of my favorite Fiend Folio monsters into DCC for my adventure 'The Traveling Cave of Al-Hadim.' No, IMO what DCC needs is more and more adventu...

Re: VOID HUNTERS: Seventies Sci-Fi Gaming...
Here's an update on Void Hunters , just to keep folks in the picture. It's still being worked on and isn't vaporware, but it is going slowly as beating the job bush in the last month has turned out a few interviews and I've spent a lot of time preparing for those. The good news, though, is it looks ...

One mustn't forget the open ended nature of Judgement in the game, as well. You say Lightning does less damage than Magic Missile, and this may be true, but do not forget the intangible assets of such a spell when interacting with the world itself. In OD&D, as it should be with all RPGs, a cleve...

Me personally, I use the roll secretly when they pass by a door without searching (technically, I have a list of rolls that I mark off so as not to give it away by rolling at the time) and then I let their actions guide me when they actively search ('I pull on the candelabra' or 'I try and move the ...

Re: Good rule system for a Hobbit/LotR Campaign
I am looking for some advice on games systems (rpgs) best portray The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. Dungeon Crawl Classics does not fit the bill. It is too weird, in a good way, and 'different' to use as a base for a Hobbit or LotR game. The only reason I started playing rpgs was on account of the ...

Ian Miller and John Blanche are the primary two of many Britpunk Fantasy artists that fired my imagination in the eighties. No one does weird fantasy like that lot.Crimsontree wrote:

No news ? :( Still working on it, but at a much slower pace than anticipated due to the post-graduation job hunt. I kind of needed to recharge my batteries after last month, in any case. Because of the job hunt, I've pushed my January plans back to February. There's really no helping that, that's l...

Re: New Spells?
I agree, it takes a lot of time, and a lot of reworking. I mostly enjoy the process, though. My big hurdle, though, has been coming up with ideas for new spells that don't overlap with existing spells. For example, between Magic Missile and Fireball, you've pretty much covered just about anything y...

Re: Awarding Luck
Not to sound sacrilegious, but the key to awarding luck, like many other aspects of running an RPG, depend on you realizing that you are the 'god' of the game. What this means is that you should award Luck based upon what you feel is a extraordinary advancement of your enjoyment running the game, wh...

Re: Weird Fantasy Dwarves, Elves, and Haflings
My Jabberwocky campaign setting uses the Elfquest type elf: sort of like wild west Indians with pointed ears, savage tempers and faerie magic. No dwarves in my campaign, but Gnomes. Halflings are exactly like the Nelwyn example.

Re: Just the basics
As written, it was intended for PCs to emerge from the depths and rise to their new calling ... but man, I've heard of lots of TPKs. The problem is that zeroes die so easily. No matter how easy the module is designed, if there are encounters there will be deaths with just a few unlucky dice rolls. ...

Re: So how is Sword INT used in DCC...?
Well, one of the very few rules clarifications in the third printing of the DCC RPG core book is the addition of this sentence to page 368, under the Sword Magic section: Ego check = opposed Int check against bearer. Hope that helps some. :) Somewhat. I have the Second Printing so I was missing tha...

And if the sword is highly intelligent, it might play dumb and let the character think he has the upper hand until it sees a good opportunity to change tactics and dominate the character or stab the character in the back (maybe even literally). "Hapless PC, I was a thousand times more evil tha...
