Re: -1 STR & -1 AGI effect on melee & ranged combat
It should be noted that strength does effect range damage. As noted in the weapon category strength effects some ranged attacks but only at "close range" meaning the first two range brackets. This makes sense since a stronger person will surely throw a hand axe deeper into the target than ...

Re: Free RPG Day
My local game shop is too cheap to do free RPG day as well. We have a new comic shop in town but he doesn't carry RPGs, just comics and collectible games (magic cards hero clicks). Might have to drive into San Francisco. Anyone know of any sonoma county game stores doing free RPG day? Edit - Never m...

Re: Sailors on the Starless Sea...when?
Its already been printed up, and the pre-orders were shipped sometime last week I believe. I can't seem to find the official post I had located at one point. Rest assured that not only is it printed, but it is supposed to be on brick and mortar store shelves the same day as the rule book.

Good program to assist adventure writing
Hey guys, I've started working on a 0 level adventure for my ongoing campaign group, and i'm having a hard time getting things organised. I have horrible handwriting and as such like to use the computer for room descriptors and flavor text. Does anyone know of a good program that I can use to write ...

Re: Chain 10'
Forging a good solid chain was once a difficult task. It takes precision and patience and a lot of iron. But if you want to offer different types of chain say "simple, strong, and fine" chains at different (and lower) prices. Go for it! DCC is all about house ruling to fit your personal ta...

Re: 0 Level Funnel Ideas...
I love the body snatchers idea. I think that a talented judge could work wonders with that as a plot. The players don't know who to trust, the characters friends and family are being turned and must be slain. It makes for a really heavy character driven story line. Plus as an added bonus if you have...

Re: How do you handle large groups in 5' wide hallways?
When I ran my trial using the back of the book material, I made each player pick one of their characters to be a "front liner". Those that survive have the added benefit of also getting first dibs on the loot they find. Though the wealthy tax collector did take the loot that should have go...

Re: The pre-order shipments have left the printer!
DCC is now in Sonoma county CA. Gave me a shock when I couldn't find the free adventure. But then I found it, neatly tucked into the book.
That kind of neat to see that it fits inside so snuggly, it will make it easier to transport.

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
I will mention the video on their site again. The guy is a bit nutty in it, but it has some very blatant visuals showing the difference between his precision dice and the dice you tend to find everywhere else. As a quick summary, all your dice are egg shaped. You might not be able to see it, but the...

Re: Actions : others activities
the easiest way to think of the way an action works is to ask yourself, "what can I do?". For example, if you wanted to move through a door it really doesn't take much time to grab a handle and pull (since very few middle aged doors had real knobs and latches), then continue through. Also ...

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
A note about coloring your dice: non-tumbled dice (E.G. Game science dice) still have a coating of non stick lubricant on them. You need to gently wash them with warm soap and water to remove it. at which point any substance you wish to color it with will hold better. Sharpies will actually mark in...

Re: The pre-order shipments have left the printer!
Man if you guys don't have it, I don't know what chance a CA guy like me has of getting it soon. To make matters worse I've got an easy to see mail box that the book is going to stick out of like a flag (and right by a high foot traffic area to boot). I just hope I'll be home to get the mail as it a...

Re: Fighter Mighty Deeds
There are other ways to balance the Might Deeds of Arm. Say your level 2 warrior wants to knock a knight in plate down a flight of stairs. Well that task isn't very difficult. After all he's a biped, in heavy armor, and not a very powerful enemy. Now say a lvl 5 warrior wants to try and push a Bassa...

Re: Firing into Melee
I think it takes players and characters alike to realize that even 1 points of damage to an ally can be the difference between life and death. Sadly Mr "tough-neck" didn't survive the dungeon. In the end it was a cowardly tax collector (who hid behind his indentured servant), an equally co...

Re: Question about "Withdrawl," page 95
something I found very funny was on page 12, in the introduction, it mentions "DCC RPG does not have prestige classes, attacks of opportunity , feats, or skill points." Except the with drawl rule IS basically attacks of opportunity. That said I let my players take a "withdrawl action&...

I agree with Virtually every request above. I also think that, in this highly digital age, an Official DCC RPG app (or a good unofficial one). Designed to quickly create random 0 level characters, track them, and let you level them up to 10. Not being a programmer, I think it would be cool if you co...

Re: Firing into Melee
My players quickly learned not to fire into melee. More than that they leaned to fear my "50%" die, which is a two face coin I got with my copy of 'The Dark Knight'. I also use it to see if torches go out, or to see if missed ranged weapon breaks. I did adjust the rule a little however. My...
