Re: Switching my group to DCC
Kind of like saying that every, "you begin in a tavern" adventure is like every other one. Sure they sound familiar, but.... ;) I promised my players that I would never, ever, ever, ever start an adventure that way. Believe me, as a teen and young GM, I threw the party into a tavern as a ...

Re: Any tips for running public games?
I used to make some really bad hand-drawn maps as the adventures progressed, but I was worried that in a more time-sensitive environment it would take too long and/or people would get bored if the map is too big. Sounds like that shouldn't be as big of a deal as I thought though! I only draw out th...

Re: How to Improve Your Chances of Making an Artifact Check
Would a judge also have the ability to improve chances of a character by giving them lower CM because they already understand a similar artifact? Yes please. Example: In an adventure I am running a lot right now, there's an elevator and I generally assume that 3rd / 4th level seekers have seen thes...

You might try to swap that stuff on RPG.net in a similar way (on the appropriate forum.) The only thing here is... a lot of diehards, so we might mostly have all those things.

Re: Any tips for running public games?
Map-wise, I'm a draw -as-you-go guy. Never had much problem with it. My maps end up kind of sucking, but that's OK, they just need to be more or less to scale and represent the world to the PCs for positioning. I've got pretty fast with it so I don't use minis..I just quick-rease PCs and monsters as...

Re: Question: Thieves, Luck & Death
It's rather amusing to re-read these posts today. The answer (to myself, 7 years ago, from myself of 2020) is don't allow people to burn luck in this fashion. DIE, Player Charcter, DIE!!

Re: Muster: a friendly primer to old school D&D
I thought 80 PCs over 8 years is kind of light. I mean, if you are running an 8 year campaign (much respect!) then of course you probably have mostly high level PCs who don't die much. But if you do 4-5 funnels, that right there would be 10-15 deaths apiece...60ish? Sounds like one year of con games...

Re: Shroomer class, I love it! Looks really fun, would love to bring that into my game. Got any pregens to share? :) Just because I'm lazy. Expanded background & equipment lists above- links appear broken. However, I am interested in moving my MCC stuff to a little more dark ages/early medieval ...

Re: The A-B-C's of Determining Your Shaman's Programs (Superseded by New Post)
Re: #1, I think I mentioned really briefly around here but maybe not... one of the approaches that is explicitly mentioned in the book IIRC is to bond to more than one patron. As long as you stay on the same or adjacent axes (e.g, Mainframe of Order) so your patrons don't constantly conflict, there'...

Re: The A-B-C's of Determining Your Shaman's Programs (Superseded by New Post)
Hi Melfast, I am not too keen on the first rule as I think the Patron should demand some service for a restored program. The wetware comes from the Patron. I mean, unless you reimagine the Shaman as a wetware-casting MCC Wizard a la Pozenal, which is fine with me, but not per the way it's designed i...

Re: The A-B-C's of Determining Your Shaman's Programs (Superseded by New Post)
Hey gang, cool discussion and cool breakdown, I think most of the A-B-Cs looks right to me. Looking at the questions: 1) Based on the quote from p. 140, I have applied the Patron AI Bond result to determine the frequency of how often the Shaman can use their programs. I'm not sure that is right. Sho...

Re: MCC 2nd Edition Core Book Errata and Rules Omissions/Suggestions for a 3rd Printing of the MCC Core Book
Hey Maceo, all of the above makes sense to me. I think there has not been that much online and fan support which is unfortunate. In fact, I feel like there's almost more 3rd party product than there is active play, but then again, I only know from the cons I go to, probably not the complete picture ...

Re: MCC 2nd Edition Core Book Errata and Rules Omissions/Suggestions for a 3rd Printing of the MCC Core Book
Great discussion guys. Question on perception of the Shaman. I agree people don't understand the class and there is confusion. I think the source of the confusion is that people think it's going to be like a DCC Wizard, but it's very different. It's as if the DCC Wizard/Elf class had ONLY patron spe...

Shorter adventures (Less than 4 hours)
What DCC adventures can be run in 2-3 hours for a convention slot? It's been many years since I ran Portal Under the Stars, I think that's one.
What about others? I'm happy to consider 3PP stuff as well as Goodman Games published.

Depending on the situation, the Judge and the group, a Luck check can be appropriate too. You could apply the Elf mod as a minus for a Luck check if desired.

DCC for MInneapolis
Running a new campaign in MInneapolis, straight-up DCC with some bits of Lankhmar (Dooms, Benisons, Fleeting Luck), sort of a city-crawl, sort of a mega-dungeon, depending on who shows up and what they want to do. Aiming to play at least a couple times a month if I can work it out, generally on week...

Hi all, I'm resurrecting this thread hoping that maybe those who posted earlier reached more final forms in the ideas they presented earlier. Softcover printing for retailer
I am running some DCC at my FLGS and my buddy and retailer owner asked me if I could see about getting some softcover Fourth printing "bridge copies" into the store to sell. I am a fourth printing backer and he is not. Is this weird/ unethical /frowned upon, grinned upon, etc?
